Guides, blogs, tutorials and more written by regular hobbyists - because in Warhammer sometimes enthusiasm is more important than skill!

#10: it’s all Stephen’s fault!

It's okay though, because a solution is imminent! Watch this space...

I realised earlier that it’s been two whole months now since my last blog update, which is truly shameful! Especially as in that period the only hobby work I’ve really done hasn’t even been my own!

A few weeks back I went to see my brother and took along most of my hobby gear – paints, brushes, airbrush etc. For Christmas last year I bought him a Dark Angels Combat Patrol and some basic hobby supplies to help him get back into painting, and he finally had a chance to sling some paint.

Excuse #10: Space Marine Intercessor

I’ll not show the final results (I’m hoping he might write something up himself 😇), but suffice it to say that he took to the airbrush significantly faster than I did! Upon leaving for the day however I decided to leave my kit with him so that he could continue playing, and I’ve yet to recover it – thus my lack of hobbying is clearly his fault, and nothing to do with moving house, being busy with work and general laziness!

I have however taken some time to build the Warhamateur site itself, and convert some old content to display here. In future this will be my main blogging/writing outlet, though I will still be trying to get The Warp Storm properly off the ground.

Moving onwards however there is some good news! While I haven’t yet started work on it the house move has meant that I have a little bit of space to play with, and thus can have a permanent hobby area! Not having to spend twenty minutes unpacking everything (and more again on cleanup!) will mean that those little bits of downtime I get can be much more productive, which I’m thoroughly excited about! I also have a mound of (totally necessary!) new plastic to add to my pile, but I’ll talk about that another day 😉

pawl has been an on/off hobbyist since the late nineties but still possesses significantly more enthusiasm for the hobby as a whole than skill with a brush, and so is always on the hunt for fast, easy and lazy techniques that give good results. Despite this he sometimes still attempts to paint Space Marine helmet lenses, and occasionally even manages to stay within the lines!
